The concept behind the “Seal of Humanity” magazine is that text holds great emotional weight. Text is the means in which humans communicate, a concept that is developed extensively in the article by Ellen Lupton. The way I decided to draw that idea out, was to create the most expressive and dynamic imagery as possible using comic art, especially known for its use of text balloons and dynamically drawn sound effects, both expressive forms of text-as-image. In my opinion, comic art is some of the most expressive and dynamic forms of expression to exist, even when only accounting for text.
